I is entitled Journal for People-Masakatsu Takagi's Artist
Talk. We invited Mr. Masakatsu Takagi, an artist of the
next generation. The general director of Demeter, Mr. Takashi
Serizawa, will have a talk with Takagi. Mr. Takagis video
work will be also presented.
Part II will show the video works of 1012 young video artist
groups from Hokkaido in the Demeter exhibition space after the
exhibition hours. The works are limited to ones without sound.
The audience can walk through night soundscapes and
the lights of video works emerging in the dark.
Profile of Masakatsu Takagi
Video and Sound Artist.
Born in 1979. Lives in Kyoto. When Masakatsu was in the group
SILICOM, during which time he made a video, the groups
activities were critically acclaimed in club scenes. When Mr.
Takagi began his solo career last year, he began to write music,
merging high quality video with sound.
main activities include: a video installation exhibition curated
by Mr. Minoru Hatanaka (ICC) at Peppers Gallery in Ginza
in August 2001, an exhibition using 16 multi-projections on the
floor at Roppongi Zone in October 2001, a tour of 13 cities in
North America in October 2001, and a live concert at the Istanbul
Biennial. Takagi has also released a CD and CD-ROM from a NY experimental
techno label, carpark. He explores his projects and activities
beyond genres like music, club, and art scenes.
August, Takagi released a CD and DV called Journal for People.
He is also showing a new installation, Light Park, at the CAFÉ
in Mito exhibition at Mito Art Tower until September 23. From
August 22 to October 31, he will collaborate with Agnes B, and
show two works in two weeks exhibited in Agnes B. shops all over
